I know the beauty
of snow
is fleeting,
but it’s sad just the same
to watch it melt away
under a bright, warm
winter sun
and return to the earth
to one day fall again.
Until then,
I’ll wait.

I think it might be more fleeting in the southern parts…Every time I mentioned a job in Maine, Idaho, or anywhere north for that matter, Rand would say “have a nice life…while you are [censored] deep in snow.” But the poem is lovely, good sentiment, and yeah for you for loving what you get! And snow is beautiful, no doubt about it.

Yes, I think you’re right. Before all the craziness started in 2020, Graham and I were planning to spend some vacation time in Maine. He’s never been, and I thought it would be fun to be somewhere with more…certain…snowfall. I’m sure it’s very different for the people who live there, though, and just generally people who live in more wintry climates. I’ve often wondered what it would be like.

I once worked with a woman from Idaho and she told some pretty scary tales of ice. You do have to wonder!
