I had a different post planned for today, but I just had to share. Merlin found a new spot over the weekend.
He has no idea how very…not ideal…this new spot of his is. Cats, y’all. Cats.

Same! Cats are wonderful. Merlin keeps us busy enough, but if I could handle it, we would have more than one.

Presently, for the first time in my life, I have no cats; I’m still grieving the loss of my last two. Both were close to twenty when they died within months of each other. It will be a while before I’m ready to be owned by a cat again. 💙

I’m so sorry for your loss. We lost our beloved 16-year-old Maine Coon in December, and it was so hard. I still get weepy about it. I was so lucky to be his human.

Yes, it’s hard. They become a member of our family, and, a lot of times, are missed when they pass on more than we miss some people. I’m sorry for your loss as well.

one of my catastrophizing thoughts is one of my cats turning on the stove by accident (or maybe on purpose) and burning the house down with them in it.

I totally get that! I worry more that Merlin will hurt himself. I can’t keep candles lit anymore, because the other day he walked right by one and nearly caught some of his fur on fire. So scary!
