I’m used to old house problems. Remember the mystery pipe? Or the ceiling with no actual support joists? Yeah, I was pretty unfazed.
And silly me, I thought when we moved to our new home – a relatively young and spritely 25-years-old – that I just wouldn’t have to worry about any kind of house problems for a while. Which is good, frankly, because it’s crazy around here with a toddler, a dog, a cat, and a husband who is amazing but often forgets where he left his everything. But y’all, here we are.

New house problems.
Sigh.
It’s not that big a deal. Our washing machine is leaking, and we didn’t notice until it started actively dripping. Through the ceiling.

Because you know, we don’t have enough going on, and they do say that when it rains it pours. Apparently, through the ceiling.
The good news is, this should all be fixed relatively quickly. There’s not any real water damage, and no signs of mold, and the washing machine will either be an easy repair or an exciting replacement. (Because when you’re almost 40 with a toddler, a new washing machine that works better and faster is, in fact, very exciting.)
So, as always, onward. Dryly, hopefully.
Oh dear, that doesn’t sound fun at all. Hope it’s all fixed and back to normal soon.

We’re getting there! I was worried there would be more damage than we expected when we opened the ceiling, but thankfully it was very minimal. We’re on to repairs now!

Not that I do not feel with you on this…but this was just downright amusing this morning, Katie! Especially the part about dog, cat, toddler and the excitement of a new washing machine! And given how many leaking water issues we have seen in “this old house”, I even had to think your through-the-light-fixture leak may have top billing. Let’s just say Merlin does not look at all phased, thus, obviously, everything is under control!

And while Merlin may well be in a phase, I am pretty sure I meant he was not fazed while still living in his phase of “I will sleep and lie anywhere I choose, and you cannot stop me.”

Indeed. That is exactly Merlin’s state of mind. 🙂 Often, that is right beside Lucy. Lately, it is on the countertops. Which are easy to clean, at least. 😉

He was fascinated by the humidifier noise and all the plastic. It was amusing to watch, and of course Lucy noticed, too. All down now. Onward to the repairs!

I know. Sigh. But it looks like an easy fix, and we’re working on it, so it could have been worse.

I know! They did a good job. All down as of today, and the ceiling will be repaired soon.

Dripping through the ceiling. Ugh. I’m so sorry. Hate when things like that happen. But you’re so right, onward and upward.

Yep! The water’s dried out, so now it’s just on to repairs and probably replacing the washing machine. Lots of money, but a fairly easy fix, thankfully.

Easy fixes= Good. Ha, ha. Hate the money part, but hang in there.
