…when we do it together.

These two, y’all. I’ve never seen two creatures more determined to be best friends.

We had to say goodbye to Annie on Monday.

It’s been a hard week. Monday was a hard day. I don’t know when we’ll feel better. I do know that from the day we brought her home way back in 2010, Annie gave us all her love, and she brought us so much joy.

I do know that she made our lives better every day that she was here. I hope we gave her a happy life, too.

And I know that we’ll love and miss her always.

My sweet little weirdo. She was tired and slow, at the end, but she never lost her spark. She was a good dog.

In this house, we all have our roles to play. Lucy is the baby, I’m the mama, Graham is the dad. And Merlin?

Merlin is the bouncer.
Today, in the further adventures of Merlin and Weird Hairless Cat –

These two, y’all. They sure do keep us entertained. 😊
Y’all…

She is actually Merlin’s baby.
(I mean, not really. But don’t tell him. Because he sure does love his Weird Hairless Cat so much.)

“Me and Weird Hairless Cat is friends.” –Merlin
(And aren’t we lucky and grateful – and not really at all surprised – for that!)
My people got a playpen
and they say it’s not for me!
But then why even get one?
Everything’s mine, you see.
(Including the weird hairless cat
they brought home in the fall.)
It’s almost like they just forgot
that Merlin owns it all.

Merlin sure does love his new weird hairless cat best friend.

I don’t have the heart to tell him she won’t always be smaller than he is, but hey, he’ll find out soon enough anyway.
He’s good.

See? All good. Cat’s, y’all. He actually seems to really like Lucy, and I think they’ll be great friends.
As for Annie, she has so far steadfastly refused to acknowledge that anything has changed. Which, I guess, could be worse? She seems just as lazy and content as ever, at any rate. Dogs, too, y’all.
…another new Merlin spot. This one’s also an interesting choice.

Do you think he’s actually trying to tell me something? Like, maybe he’s more fond of water than I thought.
Doubt it.
And I have to admit, without the water running, this does seem to be a rather perfect cat bed – cozy space, right under the window, tucked away…
And of course, he’s gotten to use our beautiful, newly-installed clawfoot tub before me. Cats, y’all. Cats.
