Help!
Seriously, y’all, I have a problem. A cooking problem. Okay, so it’s not a big problem and everything is mostly fine and I’m probably making a big deal out of nothing. But nonetheless, I am in a cooking rut, and it is a problem.
I love to cook. I’m really good at pastas…

…and particularly at mac and cheese.

I like learning how to make new things.

And I love to bake.
Lately, though, I feel like all we’ve been cooking are pasta dishes and roasted veggies with some kind of protein and rice. Like, sure, I’m feeding us. But I’m just feeling totally, completely uninspired. It’s boring and monotonous and I don’t like it.
Which brings me back to the beginning of this post. You can help, and I’d love it if you would! How?
Send me your favorite recipes! (Bonus points for your favorite cozy, fall recipes!)
One of my favorite things about food is that it’s sort of a universal language. The ingredients and techniques might be different, but at the end of the day, we all gotta eat, right? (And I really like to eat.) And you can always tell when a dish has been made with care and love, and when the cook just really wants you to feel good and be happy.
So, share your favorites with me, and I’ll do the same! Over the course of this fall, I’ll post some of my all-time best, most complimented, or just go-to recipes. And we’ll cook. And it will be fun!
(And also, September’s short story will be up on Friday, so be sure to check back. It’s going to be a good one!)
I don’t have my recipes with me or I’d send some. I’ll watch in the comments for my own inspiration!! Maggie

When I get into that mood I turn to my bucket list with dishes I’ve always wanted to try. It is really fun. Some of my favourite fall dishes recently have been Sudado de pollo, which is a Colombian chicken stew, Cuban black beans with rice, all sorts of curries and Spanish lentil stew with chorizo.

All of these sound amazing!! That’s how I am with baking – when I get bored, I try something new and involved that I’ve always wanted to make time for. I haven’t baked in a long time, though. I’d like to get back to it this fall and winter. My goal is to conquer my grandmother’s red velvet cake and chocolate pie. I’ve never been able to make either quite like she did.

It really is the prime season for baking and I do that too. My mother’s recipes have been hard to get right as well, with her never using proper measurements. I may never get her Spanish bread pudding right. Have a great day!

Oh, Top Ramen. So good. So not good for you. Unfair that those two things should coexist.

Your meals look delicious, rut or not! My cooking takes on new flavor and energy when the temperature drops (not there yet). I am the queen of salads and simple veggie dishes during the hot summer months. Bon appétit!

I always crave cozy, warm things in the fall. I’m not a huge soup person, though, so it’s tricky. Love, love, love vegetables!

We’ve definitely been doing a lot of takeout. Indian is a favorite – super easy to order enough and have leftovers!

That’s a rut I could live in, Katie. I don’t think it’s possible to grow tired of pasta. ;>)
