I’m a mountain person.

Always have been.
Graham grew up by the water, and spent pretty much every summer day of his entire childhood on the sand. He’s the first person I’ve ever met who actually lived at the beach.
Before we got together, I think I’d visited the beach, like, five times, maybe?
All of that to say, the beach was never a huge part of my life, and it’s taken some getting used to.

It’s silly, I know, to say something like that. Lots of people love the beach – they visit every year, they make plans to retire there, they dream of owning a house and staying in it as often as they can. And I totally get it! It’s just never been my thing.
But y’all, sometimes, you gotta get over yourself.
And in this case, you is me. I am you. Because, as it turns out, Lucy loves the beach.

She’s a little intimidated by the all that sand and water, sure, but she’s a fan. Graham is elated. 😊 And me?
Well, I guess I’m finally, slowly, and for the best reason ever, becoming a beach person.
is that top image the place you call home, blessedly tucked in the bosom of the hills? i feel endorphins rising. just home from ireland, and that scene is calling to me as did the Land of Forty Shades of Green, with its landscape of undulations unending….

It’s the view my parents’ house, and where my dad grew up. We don’t get back to visit there much, but I miss it. There’s just something about the mountains. 🙂

The mountains are calling me . . . yea, yea forget that. Somewhere along the way, my beachcomber wife turned me into one of those beach or shore people. Yikes.

I part human part cat and 3 parts beach. I adore seagulls and crabs crawling and the relaxing noisen of the surf and the feel of salty spray on my skin. But thats me.

I think I might be part cat, as well. I’ve come around to appreciating those things over the years. 🙂 My favorite way to experience the beach, though, remains to be hanging out on a covered porch with a good view of the water, reading a book. 😉

Books and seagulls do not mix on the beach. I was told by my wife not to feed the seagulls. When she left to go do something at the beach house i decided to disobey her and proceeded to feed the birds. They all over the beach tent and me and one of them took a shit on my wifes book she was reading. I said oh crap.

I have this picture from a few years ago. We were eating in the car near the beach and a seagull perched on the hood and just stared at us. Sat there the whole time. They are obsessed.
