Well, I guess I ought to just give up on snow this winter. It’s been warm and sunny and gorgeous this week. I spotted these little lovelies earlier today:
Daffodils! A little early this year, I think? Or maybe not. But it feels early. I suppose they’re ready, though, and honestly, if I can’t have a nice winter snow at this point in the season, I’ll certainly take an early spring.
I know y’all are probably tired of Merlin content, but just look at him:
He’s growing so fast! And I feel like we only brought him home, like, a second ago. How time flies!
Annie is tired.
We’re tired, too. But happy. Happy-tired. I hope you are, as well. Back on Friday with a short story!
Will history repeat itself?
A couple of years ago, around this time, we had a pretty bad ice storm. We were not prepared, because it was forecasted to just be a light wintry mix. I was really worried our birch tree would crack under the weight of all that frozen stuff, and super anxious that we might lose power.
It didn’t, and we didn’t, but yeah, I don’t like ice. Snow? Yes! Ice? Hard no.
At any rate, it’s looking like we might see some winter weather tomorrow, and what do you know – they’re predicting a wintry mix. So, we’ll see. Fingers crossed it’s not too bad!
For the last several weeks, we’ve had a crew working on our house. Exterior stuff for now, and as they’ve been fixing up our siding, it’s been fascinating to see what’s just underneath it.
It’s solid as a rock, we’ve been told.
Our old house may need a lot of care, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world. They just don’t make them like they used to.

But it burns out so quickly.

It’s my dad and me, messing up something – words or chords or something…I can’t exactly remember – on a song I’m sure we’ve played a thousand times.
Mistakes happen. Perfection does not exist in this universe.
But happiness does.
So, you know, laugh it off, just keep playing, and enjoy the music. 🙂

I’m always a little melancholy when one season ends, but also happy and excited to see a new season start. I wonder what this autumn will bring. Good things, I hope.
And still finding new ways to love each other every day. It’s not easy to celebrate on a busy Wednesday, but every little moment of love and joy and happiness counts. I’m so grateful for Graham, today, and always.
We’re staying at Graham’s parents’ house for the next couple of weeks for some beach and family time, and they’ve got a lovely garden with a small koi pond.
Y’all, the fish are always, always, always hungry.
