You guys! Look!

I’d lamented last week that I hadn’t seen a single cicada in my yard, and who should stop by shortly after but this little weirdo! I didn’t see him in person, sadly. He was hanging out on the bush that Graham can see from his desk, and Graham snapped a picture before he flew away. Not ideal, sure, but I’ll take what I can get!
It’s a great picture. If only the cicada knew it was a superstar. 🙂

Thank you! And yes, if only! Think of the opportunities he’s missing. 😉

Thank you! 🙂 They sit pretty still when they’re not flying. Photogenic little alien bugs.

So cool. We had our locust year in North Central Ohio in 2016 or 2017 – I’ve forgotten which, but remember it well as one of those years. I love them. Such fascinating creatures.

I’m fond of them, too. 🙂

Oops, sorry – cicadas – they’re not locusts.

I’ve heard them called that, though! I wonder if it’s because people look at strange, winged insects in large numbers and think, “A plague. Clearly a plague.” But I agree – they’re fascinating!

Me, too! Cicadas are only around for about six weeks, so I’m glad I got to see at least one in my yard.

We just had a baby Praying Mantis in our yard. Our 4-year-old daughter couldn’t have been more excited about it.
