We’ve had a lot more snow so far this month than I thought we would, and it’s been so nice. Graham’s been out in the yard snapping pictures (including the little bird from my last post), and I just had to share this one.
This family of deer lives in the woods behind our house, and they’re…not the best neighbors. They eat pretty much everything, including the blossoms from our fruit trees, and they often get stuck behind fences. We’ve had to rescue them more than once. But, be that as it may, they sure are cute, aren’t they?

Yes, they are cute. The deer family who lives in the woods next to our house are so beautiful…and they knock down the bird feeders, and the birdbath and put hoof-holes in the yard where they stomp around while foraging. But it is hard to be annoyed when development keeps taking over their natural habitat.

That’s so true. I actually feel really sort of lucky and honored that my back field and yard can be a haven for them. Same with the fox family that lives under the barn in the spring and summer. Their world is getting smaller and smaller, and it makes me sad for them.

Where we used to live, deer walked past in the mornings.

They definitely keep a schedule! We see them at around the same time every evening, and at night.

I’m a city mouse so I have rarely seen them, but they were memorable occassions ..I saw a full grown moose once, right in the middle of the road…you just had to wait 🕺🕺🌹
