At night
in the dark and quiet
I sometimes dream it
turned out differently,
ended happily,
that maybe somewhere
in some universe
you stayed
and we’re
together.
Dreams can be
funny
hopeful
painful
things,
can’t they?
But in that dreaming place,
at least,
I can kiss your face
and tell you,
“Good morning,
good night.
Goodbye.”
there was loving
kinky
pushing shoving
but too much talk
and not enough
loving
push came to shove
and hate is what
became of our so called love!

Very poignant and beautiful, Katie. I felt you in every word and line, and understand it in that other universe in which we must sometimes dwell.

A poem that balances heartbreaking and heartwarming. 💞 You wrote your beautiful poem when you were ready to write it. Grief deserves patience and grace. I hope the writing brought you some comfort.
