Today, I want the world
to know:
that the sadness won’t beat me,
that the heartbreak won’t stop me,
and the fear of bad things happening
might slow me down,
but I will
keep going.
Even if I have to crawl.
That’s all.
Today, I want the world
to know:
that the sadness won’t beat me,
that the heartbreak won’t stop me,
and the fear of bad things happening
might slow me down,
but I will
keep going.
Even if I have to crawl.
That’s all.
And we will be there to pick you up when needed.

It is a heartfelt poem, and I wrote my share of those in my younger years. Sometimes we do have to crawl, but I later learned I did not have to crawl alone. It’s okay to ask for help. Perhaps that step will keep you on your feet, or if not, that the hand to lift you up will be right beside you.

I’m so lucky to have wonderful people around me, and lucky that I feel like I can ask for help. It’s definitely a learned skill, and doesn’t come naturally. At least not to me. It’s been a sad season, but things are looking up, I hope. 🙂
