The words just say no
We’re not into it today
So go away please
No wisdom bursts forth
From my aching, thinking head
It’s empty up there
I’m calling it now
I’ll just go outside instead
And take a nice walk

The words just say no
We’re not into it today
So go away please
No wisdom bursts forth
From my aching, thinking head
It’s empty up there
I’m calling it now
I’ll just go outside instead
And take a nice walk

Good choice. 🥰

Like Epimenides paradox for writers. I am completely blocked so I will just write about being completely blocked.

Yep, pretty much exactly.

I love love love the idea of thinking of words as a friend in conversation with you. A friend with BIG personality, in fact! Maybe if you promise your friend, Words, an ice cream cone she will decide to get with the plan. Otherwise just go savor that walk!

Yes, very big personality! Words was not interested in playing with me today, so I gave her a rest and I’m trying again tonight. 🙂

Wow, you got into my head somehow…

It’s the rhythm of the haikus. It’s like an ear worm.

I meant that I didn’t get any writing done yesterday, but yes, it is…

Yep, that occurred to me right after I replied to your comment. I had not yet had my coffee this morning, and I’m never quite human before I’ve had my coffee. And clearly, writing-wise, I’m still just not very clever this week. I’m currently seated at my laptop with a drink and a snack, hoping for better results. I hope you’re able to get some writing done today, too!

I usually take a nap and then I feel like writing again when I wake up lol!

So be it! The well of talent never truly runs dry; it’s the pulley attached to the bucket that gets rusty once in a while 😊

It really is like that sometimes. Way to get some words down anyway.

Thanks! It’s been a better week so far, at least. Hoping to catch up a little bit on my word count!

What a simple and relatable poem. It reminded me that there are days when words rest, and that’s okay too. Sometimes a walk is just what inspiration needs.

Thank you! I love that you can relate, and that you enjoyed the poems. 🙂 Thankfully, the rest of the week has gone a little better, writing-wise.

I’m so glad to hear that. There are weeks when the words flow better, and when that happens, it shows in every poem. I hope inspiration continues to guide you. Thank you for sharing your work and for your kind words.

Sometimes the best words are silence. Enjoy your walk and let nature refresh your mind.
