The longest of days,
high sun, heavy heat,
and the creeping feeling
that a storm’s on the way.
Summer greets the world,
slow and hazy,
fierce and free,
all promise and no rules,
except these:
Be ready for anything,
and bring bug spray.

Oh yes, bug spray! The mosquitos are crazy right now with the humidity!

This is so appropos! I love the descriptive and evocative language. The storm is here today, and yes, the mosquitoes are crazy bad at the moment–attacked on the way to take the trash down yesterday–yikes!

Today had been hot and sunny here, and just as I sat down to write, a really bad storm rolled in. I guess that means it’s officially summer! We’re expecting more storms tonight – I hope they’re not too bad, but I love how they take the edge off the heat.
