They say,
“Nothing ventured, nothing gained,”
and knowing I can choose,
I’d certainly rather venture,
even if it means I lose.
See, it so happens that
I know a little something
about nothing,
that sad default,
that frustrating non-finish line.
Nothing:
What I say when I can’t find the words.
Nothing:
What I do when the world is too much.
Nothing:
What changes when I don’t.
Nothing,
safe though it may be,
just isn’t enough
for me.
Well done, Katie. An interesting journey this poem took me on.

I like this nothing poem that’s really about something. Sometimes nothing can say so much more than something. Nothing is definitely something to think about!

I’m so glad you liked the poem! Nothing can be pretty powerful, I think, in lots of different ways.

I am interested in talking more about nothing. In what ways do you think nothing can be powerful?

It’s a good question! Nothing can be the best medicine – to sit, slow down, and think about nothing for a little while. Or it can be a pretty awful problem – to do nothing in the face of stress or trouble, to not act when it’s needed.

I actually have also written about nothing. Here’s the link to it, if you wanted to take a look:
