My other favorite sign of spring here in Virginia: the Virginia bluebell.

Just like the bright, striking pink of the redbud tree, the calm blues and purples of these little beauties just make so happy. And when you happen across a field of bluebells, it honestly feels a bit like stepping into a fairyland.

I wrote a poem about them last year, which I’ll share at the end of this post, just below.

I tell ya…there’s just something a little bit magic about Virginia in the spring.
Blue Belle (A Poem)
Lady Blue,
now ring your bell
through forest, field, and fairy dell,
from riverbank to village green:
the time has come for growing things.
So pretty! It’s not quite spring here yet so it’s nice to see your spring blue bells 🙂 Maggie

It’s been a strange week for weather here, but I’m hoping we’re finally done with winter. I love winter, but all things have their time. 🙂

It sleeted a bit here yesterday. It’s been a weird week for weather, but I think we’ve finally turned a corner. Winter is my favorite, but it’s time for spring, I think.

It’s probably the end of the snow here…I don’t know if it’s ever snowed in May…wouldn’t surprise me this year 😳😳

Yes! Honestly, when they bloom, it looks like something out of a fantasy movie or a fairy story. 🙂

Indeed it looks like stepping into the fairyland. Thanks for sharing.
I’ve never seen blue & purple bells in real, they actually looks so beautiful. Do they have any kind of fragrance?
I would love to share pics of yellow bells at my home 🙂

I’d love to see the yellow bells! I don’t know if bluebells have a fragrance – funny enough, I’ve never picked one to smell it. I’m sure they do. Next year, I’ll find out!
